Running is about being able to lie to yourself convincingly. “Just run until the end of this track and then you can stop” and “just to the end of the block” are just some of the internal monologue lies that I tell myself. It works. It keeps me going, and inevitably, if you have planned your running playlist well, the subsequent song is so addictive that you can’t help but keep running.
